The Big Tidy Up event at Handforth Station on 12 March was a huge success with 30 volunteers leading their time and effort. The event was run by Friends of Handforth Station in partenrship with British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and Northern Rail. Rotary did work on their award-winning garden whilst 1st Handforth Guide Unit made great progress on preparing a plot of land for their new station garden. Birdboxes were built whilst 20 bags of litter were filled. Well done to all involved.
Tidiest Station 2010 Award
Handforth received the tidiest station award at Cheshire’s Best Kept Station Awards for 2010 held in Northwich.
On receiving the award Mike Bishop praised the support Friends of Handforth Station have received from Northern Rail, ISS, Rotary and the local community.

Mike Bishop Short-listed for Award
Friends of Handforth Station Chairman Mike Bishop has been short-listed for the Volunteer of the Year Award by ACoRP (Association of Community Rail Partnerships). Mikle was nominated by the local Community rail partnership in recognition of 15 years of service to local railways.
